President's Message
July 2008
Dear PROD Member;
Prod has been successful this past year in getting the City to provide coverage of City Commission meetings on computer streaming video…In April, the first ever live streaming of City Commission organizational meeting occurred.
However, PROD still has an on going concern that our City Commission meetings are not televised live.
All our neighboring cities provide this as a service to their citizens to keep them up to date on what their elected officials are doing for them and with their tax money. PROD will continue to work with the City on getting up to speed with our neighbors
Please contact your favorite City Commissioner with your ideas, suggestions and requests that they help us achieve LIVE Cable TV COVERAGE OF THE DELRAY BEACH CITY COMMISSION meetings.
PROD still continues to monitor the commission agenda and backup prior to the meetings, watches the computer streaming of the meetings, and when appropriate sends representatives to City Commission and other City meetings to speak on members’ behalf.
PROD has been carefully watching and will continue to watch the presentations of plans for 777 East Atlantic Avenue and the developers’ proposals for changes at adjacent Veterans’ Park.
PROD has also been in attendance at meetings on proposals for construction of Office Depot and CVS to be put on the land at George Bush Blvd between 5th and 6th Avenue
PROD members have spoken in objection to this proposal.
With the advent of the new tax laws it is even more important for all of us to be aware of what we are gaining and what we are losing. The City commission will soon be formulating the budget expenses and cuts to keep our City running…
For our next meeting, PROD will be requesting that a City official come and explain what is happening with the budget and provide an opportunity to let the Commission know what expenses you think should be added or subtracted.
It has also been suggested that we hear from the new police chief.
